Ezerkaulinių Farm was established on January 8, 1997. Initially, Ezerkauliņi cultivated around 40 different vegetable crops. To ensure sufficient volumes and a wide assortment of vegetables, the farm began collaborating with several other farms. In 2005, the cooperative company Baltic Vegetables was founded, and Ezerkauliņi became one of its founding members. “Baltic Vegetables” coordinates vegetable procurement, advises growers, plans the quantities and varieties of crops, and manages the logistics and marketing of harvested vegetables. The cooperative started with 16 members and later established collaborations with 50 other vegetable growers.
Techvitas Robotika implemented a project at the Latvian company “Baltijas darženi”, which was aimed at depalletizing pallets with plastic boxes and the cucumber production transfer line. During the project, a KUKA KR 120 R3200 PA robot was used, which was integrated into the production process to efficiently manage and automate the depalletizing and product transfer operations.
System operating principle: Starting with full pallets of products, each containing plastic boxes with cucumbers, the robot performed the depalletizing function, removing the boxes and placing them onto a conveyor. The boxes then moved via the conveyor to the box tipping station, where they were inverted, and the cucumbers continued their journey to the packaging machine. An automatic PALOMAT device was used to collect empty pallets, ensuring the smoothness and efficiency of the production process.
This project not only reduced the need for human intervention in the production process but also enhanced efficiency and safety. It serves as an excellent example of how technological innovations can optimize business operations and support the achievement of better business outcomes.
